Prodell’s Pulsera Project

Students at table selling pulsera bracelets thumbnail264700

Albert G. Prodell Middle School students are selling one-of-a-kind pulseras (Spanish for bracelets) for The Pulsera Project.

The students received dozens of bracelets made by artisans who live in Nicaragua and Guatemala. Each bracelet has a tag with the person’s picture and name on it as well as information on the project. There were multiple types of bracelets, and each one was unique. The students are selling the bracelets during lunch periods throughout the week.

The money raised will benefit those who created them by sustaining employment for the artisans, in addition to funding costs for their schooling and housing.

This bulletin board, created by the National History Day Club, under the leadership of club advisers Corrine Fallon and Danielle Senneca highlights the significant contributions of Black leaders throughout history. At the heart of the display is a detailed 3D-printed model of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial in Washington, D.C., meticulously designed by Prodell STEAM teacher Michele Vitale.

The memorial serves as a powerful focal point, symbolizing Dr. King's enduring legacy in the fight for equality and justice. Surrounding the model are informative panels that celebrate the achievements and impact of key figures in Black history, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for their roles in shaping society. The bulletin board serves as both an educational tool and a tribute to the lasting influence of these leaders.
